Our Founders

Ron Cougler, Co-Founder

Ron was a high school teacher for 30 years, teaching students from Grade 9 to OAC and at all levels of ability.

He holds a Principal’s Certificate from the Ontario Ministry of Education and has given workshops across Canada in connection with two high school texts he has authored. For the several years, he was pleased to help build STEM Camp into a province-wide summer awesome learning adventure for children. For several more years, Ron served as the Executive Director of STEM Camp Foundation until his retirement in the fall of 2024.

“Throughout my career as an educator, I’ve seen the incredible potential that young minds have when they’re given the tools and inspiration to succeed,” says Ron. “It has been a privilege to contribute to STEM Camp and the STEM Camp Foundation, helping to create opportunities for children to explore STEM in exciting and meaningful ways. Watching the Foundation grow and knowing it will continue to empower teachers and inspire students is one of the most rewarding chapters of my journey in education.”

Kevin has dedicated his entire career to being an entrepreneur with a social purpose. Since 1994, he has founded and operated businesses in the Information Technology sector and has also ventured into the healthcare and engineering industries through business acquisitions. His journey into the not-for-profit sector began in 2005 with Partners in Research, a London-based Canadian charity, where he served as Executive Director from 2012 to 2015, under the mentorship of Dr. Ron Calhoun. In 2014, Kevin founded STEM Camp, a not-for-profit organization created to inspire children to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). As Executive Director, Kevin has guided STEM Camp in inspiring over 90,000 children since its inception.

I’m incredibly proud of the impact the STEM Camp Foundation has had in supporting educators and inspiring young minds,” says Kevin. “In today’s rapidly evolving world, STEM skills are more critical than ever. Our grants program helps ensure that teachers have the resources they need to deliver engaging and innovative STEM experiences in their classrooms, empowering the next generation to explore, create, and thrive in these fields.”
